Short-term disability

US Employees (including Expats & Hawaii)

Unable to work

Gulfstream provides short-term disability (STD) benefits for employees who are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness or injury beyond seven consecutive calendar days (40 hours).

The maximum benefit period is 26 weeks, including the 40-hour elimination period. (Employees are responsible for the first 40 hours of absence.) STD benefits begin on the eighth calendar day and are 70 percent of your base pay. STD absence runs concurrent with FML (Family Medical Leave).

State Disability

STD benefits are offset by any state or federal disability benefits except for veteran's benefits, including any state-required disability program for the duration of disability as permitted by law.

Initiating your STD claim

Contact Sedgwick, the STD plan administrator, at 800-416-1808 or through their secure online portal MySedgwick as soon as possible before your leave begins or within 90 days from your first day of absence if the leave is unforeseeable.

You can upload your medical documentation, message your claims examiner and monitor the status of your claim through MySedgwick.

For more information, refer to Gulfstream’s Medical Leave of Absence policy, available on the Gulfstream intranet, or contact Sedgwick at 800-416-1808.

Plan Administration

Sedgwick administers both family medical leave and short-term disability for Gulfstream. To report your disability claim or leave of absence, or for information about your claim, call Sedgwick at 800-416-1808.

You can manage your short-term disability claim online with Sedgwick's MySedgwick website. You can also find helpful information in the document listed at the bottom of this page.
